Friday - What a day!

Well this was quite an exciting day! It started with the school looking a bit like our centre - a Winter Wonderland. Hail covered the ground like snow, until the children came and threw it! :-) Outside our classroom...

Then we went down to the hall and listened to an Olympic speaker. Emily's dad had represented South Africa in the 1992 Olympic games in Rowing. He was a sweeper. This means he was part of a team and each member only rowed one oar. If you want to know more about rowing and how it works, there is a great little clip explaining it all...

We got to hold the oar! Boy are we strong (it wasn't really that heavy though! :-) )

Mihi

During Maori Language week this week we practiced saying our Mihi. This is an introduction in Maori saying who our parents are, our last name, what school we go to and lastly our own names. See if you can figure out what the children are saying!

Book Week

We just finished a school wide book week. We had a great time with different teachers popping into our rooms after lunch to read us a story! On the friday we had a dress up day. We had to dress up as a book character. Here are some photos of us on the day...
