Voki

Get a Voki now!

Hi all! Isn't this fun. Press Play and it will speak. You guys can create your own Voki too. You don't need to log in or register, you can just create one. It doesn't even have to be a person. You can type in messages for your Voki to say and choose a voice and an accent. Unfortunately I had to choose an Australian one :-(
Have fun :-)

Hi Mums and Dads and wider family and community!!!

He have been hard at work creating visual master pieces for you. As part of a PTN fundraiser we are selling calendars and cards that display your childs art work. They are perfect for posting as pressents to the grandparents/family. Check out the slide show below to see your childs work. Orders are closed for the term but there will be another opportunity next term. Feel free to even chose artwork that doesn't belong to your child, as well as theirs of course!

Friday - What a day!

Well this was quite an exciting day! It started with the school looking a bit like our centre - a Winter Wonderland. Hail covered the ground like snow, until the children came and threw it! :-) Outside our classroom...

Then we went down to the hall and listened to an Olympic speaker. Emily's dad had represented South Africa in the 1992 Olympic games in Rowing. He was a sweeper. This means he was part of a team and each member only rowed one oar. If you want to know more about rowing and how it works, there is a great little clip explaining it all...

We got to hold the oar! Boy are we strong (it wasn't really that heavy though! :-) )

Mihi

During Maori Language week this week we practiced saying our Mihi. This is an introduction in Maori saying who our parents are, our last name, what school we go to and lastly our own names. See if you can figure out what the children are saying!

Term 3

We have had a great start back to term 3, this year is whizzing by! I thought it was time to change the photo and get our newest tamariki in there! Keep a look out for an even newer one, when we have a full class to take it...

We have done some tapua work with Maori Language week this week, keep a look out for a new entry with some of the tamariki saying their Mihi!

We have transformed our Junior Shared space into a Winter Wonderland and we wrote some poems about winter. Click on the name of a child to read their poem. Come in and see our winter wonderland as it develops over the term.

Swimming

We have had a fantastic time!!!! We have learnt so much becuase we have practiced every day. Miss Baines thinks that we did so well even though we were so tired! We had heaps of fantastic mother and father helpers, and our "turn around" time from changing was excellent. Check out some of our photos, these are of our last lesson, which was a bit of fun!

Comments!

It is so wonderful to get all your comments! If you have tried and are not quite sure how, you can click on Anonymous and your message will just disappear. It comes to me to be checked and I will publish it. You do not have to have a blogger account. You can, by all means, create one, but it is not necessary to post a comment. You may need to scrol down to find this option. :-)

Buddy Time

We are lucky! We have the best buddy class in the whole school. This week they invited us up to their room and taught us how to do and make things. They have been learning about procedural writing and thought they could share some of their writing with us. Check out what we got up to...

Gingerbread Man Stories

Here they are! The stories you have been waiting for! We read the story of The Gingerbread Man and brainstormed the characters and settings, the problem and the solution and the ending. Then we had a go at writing the story on our own. So here are some finished ones...

Library Visit

Our library is out of action this term as a bunch of 5 year olds have invaded adventure school. We are lucky and Mrs Evan's still comes to visit us every second friday, but on every other Monday we get to go tothe Whitby library. We see Margaret down there and she lets us look all through her library! Then we choose our books, hear a story from Miss Baines and then have a wee play at the park (because we miss a bit of our morning tea play). We get the whole playground to oursleves and it is a neat treat for after the library!

Check us out having a great time!

Beach Writing

We have been learning to brainstorm our important ideas like who, where, when and why and then put them in the beginning of our story. Miss Baines thought that because it was getting cold we would remember times at the beach when it was warm, or we could make up things we might like to do. Here issome of our work by people who remembered what they were learning and put it into their story.
